I expected the European decor to do most of the work. The actual work setup was better than I thought.
Hotel Alexandra has a lot of gold, dark trim, and grand European decor. It is the sort of lobby where opening a spreadsheet feels a bit too casual. I thought the hotel might care more about the look than the person trying to use a laptop in it.
The room proved me wrong. It was quiet, the desk had enough space for a laptop and a notebook, and the chair did not make me regret my job after an hour. That is a low bar, but many hotels still miss it.
Working there was quite nice. Calls were easy, the room stayed calm during the day, and I did not have to move lamps around to see the screen. The decor is not for everyone, but it gave the place some character without getting in the way.
I would book it again for a short Hong Kong work trip. Final score: 8 out of 10.
